The tale of an adventurous beagle who travels the World. This was a labour of love for authors Susan Bowen and her son Haydn, who dreamt of turning shared bedtime tales of their dog Chewie into a picture book so that others could wallow in the joys of having a furry, best friend. As Chewie travels from Winchester to France and on to Canada, he samples pastries, doughnuts, wild moose and the joys of airport baggage-handling…
It was also a great chance to experiment with a slightly different style – full colour, more painterly and textured – to achieve the classic appeal of a vintage, children’s picture book. Helping guide the authors through the process of editing, layout and printing was particularly rewarding and the final publication was a touching homage to their much-missed, four-legged friend.
