DSbD

Digital Security by Design is a major Government initiative aimed at exploring digital technology to create a more resilient and secure digital future. I was commissioned by the very excellent Genevieve Liveley (a professor of Narratology at Bristol University if you please) to illustrate a series of interviews she conducted with industry experts about the benefits (and limitations!) of future digital security. Working with an open brief, I tinkered with a variety of styles to capture key points creatively and with a sense of humour, from traditional pen & ink scribing to photo montage and a parody of classic newspaper cartoons. Select images were then given a Creative Commons license for open use in industry presentations.

I went on to live-scribe at a large DSbD event in April ’22, roving the room, pestering technical types and attempting to boil down their wild theories into sceptical doodles…
